Passwords. Ugh. If you’re anything like me, you’ve got dozens if not hundreds of online accounts and they all require a password. We know it’s not good to: use simple passwords like 123456 or ‘password’, use the same password for every account, or write them down on post-it notes so how the heck can we use secure passwords without forgetting them when we need them? (Remember that account with that one company that you use once a year to buy a unique gift for your cool uncle? What’s that password again?)
It’s a pain in the butt to reset forgotten passwords. A bigger pain if that password is compromised, your identity stolen, and bank account hacked, all of which can result from poor password management. One of the best things you can do to up your security game is to use a password manager. Password managers are programs that can help you to create strong passwords, remember your passwords, and generally help you to access all your accounts securely across devices.
Password managers are also called password keepers or key vaults. A key is just another name for password. I happen to use Roboform but there are many good password managers available to help make passwords less of a headache. Many password managers offer a free version of their software but for as little as 2 bucks a month, you can have full access to your passwords across all of your devices. It’s worth the investment for not only the peace of mind that you are more secure, but you’ll avoid password stress that comes with living in a digital world.
Check out Roboform or any other reputable password manager – it’s one of the simplest things you can do to protect your sensitive accounts and identity online.
